What are Dental Implants?
The best way to replace missing teeth.
Dental implants are the best solution for missing teeth. An implant becomes the replacement root for a missing tooth. Once secured to the jawbone, it becomes the sturdy and durable foundation for a custom-crafted porcelain crown.
While there are other dental treatments for missing teeth, no other will look, feel, or function more like your natural teeth. You can be fully confident again when eating and talking, or smiling for those treasured family photos!
A dental implant has three parts:

FAQs About Dental Implants
- Who is a good candidate for dental implants?
Almost anyone who is missing a single tooth or multiple teeth is a candidate for dental implants. The best candidate for a dental implant has healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease and adequate bone needed to support the implant. Dr. Nosti will be able to tell you after an examination if dental implants are the right treatment for you.
- Is it better to get a bridge or an implant?
Every case is different. In general, an implant is a better choice because of providing better function and being a more conservative treatment. A bridge requires the modification of the teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth. In other words, a perfectly healthy tooth will need to have enamel removed to attach the bridge. An implant does not require that. But a bridge may be a better option if the surrounding teeth are not healthy and will need treatment anyway. Dr. Nosti will be able to tell you about all the options available to you.
- Are dental implants expensive?
It’s true that other teeth replacement options such as a dental bridge have a lower upfront cost. Since these treatments must be replaced periodically, you will continue to pay that cost over and over. So in the long run, these treatments are actually more expensive compared to long-lasting dental implant treatment.
