Your Convenient Tooth Loss Solution

Your life with missing teeth can cause inconveniences, such as difficulty with eating, speaking, and smiling with confidence. If you have adjacent missing teeth, replacing each one individually can be costly and time-consuming. Fortunately, Dr. Nosti offers dental bridge restorations, a convenient solution to tooth loss.

Discover how dental bridges can give you a natural-looking smile and improve the overall state of your oral health by reading our helpful guide below.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a customized restoration that’s designed to bridge the gap between one or more missing teeth. These restorations are made up of natural-looking prosthetic teeth, called pontics, that replace the missing teeth. For traditional dental bridges, these pontics rely on your adjacent teeth on each side to support the dental bridge.

In addition to traditional bridges, we also offer implant-supported bridges. These look and function just like our traditional bridges, but they’re secured with dental implants instead of relying on your surrounding teeth. As a result, patients can enjoy a more stable and longer-lasting restoration.

Are dental bridges permanent?

No, dental bridge restorations aren’t permanent. They can last up to 15 years or more with proper care, but they’ll need to be replaced eventually. While dental bridges are stable, they do wear out with everyday use, just like other tooth replacement solutions.

You won’t have to worry about replacement for a long time if you take proper care of your oral hygiene. Daily brushing and flossing, as well as regular dental visits to our Mays Landing office, will help keep your oral health in pristine condition.

Reasons for Receiving a Dental Bridge

There are multiple reasons why patients choose dental bridges as their ideal restoration, including:

  • Fill the space left by missing teeth
  • Maintain facial shape
  • Prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of a position
  • Restore chewing and speaking ability
  • Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance

Is a bridge better than an implant?

The best restoration option for you depends on your dental situation. For some patients, a bridge is the better solution. While dental implants are popular for their amazing benefits, there are some cases where they’re not suitable.

Bridges can be the better option if you’re not looking to undergo surgery and avoid possible extensive supplemental procedures. Dental implants also involve a much longer treatment process that can last several months from beginning to end.

Our Treatment Process

When you decide to receive a dental bridge, your treatment process can be completed in just two appointments at our Mays Landing dental office.

During your first visit, Dr. Nosti will prepare your anchoring teeth by removing a portion of the enamel and capping them with porcelain crowns for increased strength. Then, we’ll take highly accurate digital impressions (molds) of your teeth to be sent to a dental laboratory. The laboratory will create your customized restoration and, in the meantime, we’ll provide you with a temporary bridge.

Once your customized bridge is ready, you’ll return to our Mays Landing office to finish the rest of the procedure. Dr. Nosti will meticulously check that your permanent restoration looks and fits perfectly before cementing it to your teeth with a special dental resin. Once it’s secured, you’ll leave our office with your stunning new smile.
